• CRAIG REYNOLDS FAIA REINS AS TA PRESIDENT 1.1.12 • CONSTRUCTION BEGUN ON WHIDBY ELEMENTARY 11.9.11 The BRW Houston office has begun the construction administration phase on the Tina E. Whidby Elementary School in the Houston ISD. The school is currently undergoing renovations on both the exterior and interior which include repairs, updating materials and mechanical systems, increasing accessibility, and the replacing doors and windows. Additionally, a new front entry is under construction to address safety concerns and relieve congestion. • LISA LAMKIIN AIA NAMED PRESIDENT OF CEFPI CHAPTER 10.4.11 Lisa Lamkin, AIA, Principal at BRW Architects, was recently named president of the North Texas Chapter of CEFPI (Council of Educational Facilities Planners International). Ms. Lamkin is actively involved in CEFPI, serving on the Chapter Board as Programs Chair for the 2010 Southern Region Convention. CEFPI "is the advocate for excellence in student learning environments". CEFPI is comprised of a diverse group of professionals with one single goal - building healthy, safe, high performance and sustainable learning environments that enhance student and teacher performance and support culture and community vitality. To learn more, visit www.cefpi.org. • DALLAS CANSTRUCTION 10.12.11 Once again, BRW was a participant in the Canstruction Competition at Northpark Mall in Dallas. Every year Canstruction Inc., a nonprofit organization holds a competition to construct giant structures made entirely out of canned food.The design this year was based on the Chic fil a cow ads. After raising approximately $1357, BRW was able to purchase 1482 cans to form a cow holding up the sign, "Feed Mor People". The cans will be donated to the North Texas Food Bank once the structure is dismantled. It is on display until October 16. • JOHN T. WHITE ELEMENTARY RECIEVES AWARD 11.7.11 The 2011 Topping Out Awards Program has given John T. White Elementary School a TOP Ten Award. This is an annual awards program honoring leaders in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction Community work together to create outstanding built environments that impact DFW.
