The NLECC facility called for fully manned, 24-hour independent communication center that was detached from existing postal facilities. Reducing the total number of facilities to only two nationwide, the size and mission capabilities of these high-tech communication centers were expanded. Integrating and changing ordinary utilitarian rooms into aesthetically pleasing spaces proved to be extremely successful in this high profile project. The relationship between the computer and monitoring rooms established the facility's footprint with a raised access flooring and security being the foremost of concerns.
