Fire Station No. 5 is designed in a Texas vernacular style that takes design cues from the surrounding area, particularly the large, upscale Traditions development. Clad with stone on all sides and a metal roof, the building conveys a sense of permanence through a rugged simplicity that fits nicely into its surroundings. The combination of shading devices and southeast / northwest-facing windows allows daylight to enter the building while resisting heat gain through fenestration.
