The new City of Alameda Emergency Services Center (EOC) serves as the primary support facility for the operations management and response coordination for all major public safety incidents. Located in the strategic center of the island, the facility accommodates the collaboration between the City of Alameda emergency service personnel including Fire, Police, Public Works, City Manager’s office and other City Departments as needed. The building design complies with the stringent earthquake resistance code requirements for an Essential Service facility and is served by diesel powered generator to maintain continual operation.
The development of the design included a series of community presentations and discussion. The four meetings were held over an 11-month period, and focused on operations, space needs, site arrangement and potential design concept solutions. Attendees included adjacent neighbors and interested community members. All meetings started with a brief recap of the site location, general operations and progress to date and concluded with a series of questions and ideas from the attendees.
