The Inland Fisheries Regional Office is the first step toward the implementation of a Master Plan for a regional office complex at the Tyler Nature Center.
Texas Parks & Wildlife Department’s Mission Statement explicitly defines conservation as one of their critical assignments. Beginning with siting, form, and fenestration, the Inland Fisheries Regional Office has been designed with conservation and green building principles as its conceptual origin.
Other conservation measures include choices in materials that help create healthier indoor environments, regionally harvested and manufactured materials, including use of wheat straw based structurally insulated panels, and limited site disturbance.
The north facing office areas open to expansive views of the nature center property on the south. An entry deck provides a sheltered transition to the interior reception lobby where educational exhibits illustrating Inland Fisheries’ mission are displayed. Future components of the office complex will include wildlife, state parks and law enforcement divisions.
