Irving fire station No. 12 is a 10,840 square foot, single-story fire station situated in a prime ISO location adjacent to a major highway and residential area. Being the first fire station built since 2005 for the City of Irving, it was vital that the station set a design standard precedence for future fire stations. Fire Station No. 12 has two full pull-through bays and one half bay, and is designed to allow support space to easily be converted to a third pull-through bay with a future building addition.
There are three bunk room pads of four beds each, with separate Captain and Lieutenant Bedrooms. Taking cues from the adjacent residential area, No. 12 has a complimentary mixture of stone, stucco, and warm brick. The project is anticipated to be LEED Certified under LEED BD+C 2009. Blending the LEED guidelines with the fire fighters operational needs creates a healthy, innovative, green environment for firefighters awaiting the next call.
