Located in the heart of central Texas, the Kyle Fire Station accommodates the projected growth of this rapidly expanding community and replaces the existing station as the department transitions from a volunteer to a career department. The 20,400 square foot fire station responded to the community’s desire to revitalize the downtown business district by integrating characteristics of the recently completed City Hall and the iconic water tower. The new fire station is a warm, open, naturally lit structure that brings pride to the community.
Creative planning on the tight site and a close working relationship with city officials allowed the new station to utilize the original station’s site which was ideally located within the city. Sustainable building principles and high quality finishes with low maintenance requirements help reduce the life cycle cost of the building.
An outstanding relationship with the contractor contributed to BRW’s ability to be a continual influence throughout construction and resulted in a superior facility for the Kyle Fire Department.
