Ryan Venhuizen, AIA

Associate

Ryan VenHuizen is an Architect working with BRW’s Dallas K-12 studio, where he leads some of the studio’s most complex projects. With nearly two decades of post-graduate practice experience, Ryan is a designer and manager who leverages technical knowledge, research skills, and thoughtful problem-solving to lead teams in creating buildings and spaces that elevate human experiences, not only for clients, but also with the everyday end-user in mind. As Steve Jobs once said: “Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.” This quote concisely sums up Mr. VenHuizen’s holistic approach toward architectural design aesthetics, functionality, et cetera.

In addition to his primary projects, Ryan provides peer quality control reviews for projects across BRW, with the same diligent attention to detail. As a member of BRW’s Technical Team, Mr. VenHuizen has also contributed to optimizing various BRW processes, and significantly expanding our detail library. Both initiatives increase the quality of BRW’s documents and afford project teams more time to deliver better buildings for our clients.

These hobbies offer the added benefit of enhancing his awareness of design in both built and natural environments, which he integrates into his architectural projects. Additionally, he loves reading or listening to interviews and documentaries about spirituality, science, technology, history, psychology, and real-life mysteries. This continual learning fuels his thinking and problem-solving abilities.
