Alameda Fire Station No. 3 + EOC

Alameda Fire Station No. 3 is a modern replacement facility designed to support daily firefighter operations while honoring the legacy of the original station. BRW designed the two-story station to serve a single engine company, replacing the former facility nearby and creating a durable, forward-looking presence along Buena Vista Avenue.

The station is organized to support efficient operations and firefighter well-being. It accommodates a Type 1 engine and an ambulance, with additional space for a reserve apparatus or truck. Drive-through apparatus bays are flanked by service aprons on both sides, allowing for vehicle servicing, cleaning, and fueling. Interior spaces include living quarters, exercise areas, and a conference room. A covered outdoor patio along Buena Vista Avenue extends the kitchen and fitness spaces outdoors, supporting daily use and recovery.

Developed in close collaboration with a firefighter design committee, the project incorporates meaningful elements that connect past and present. Select lighting fixtures and hardware from the original Station No. 3 are reused in the new lobby, and a memorial integrated near the public plaza and entrance provides a place of reflection for firefighters and the community.
