AMBERTON UNIVERSITY
Amberton University faced a clear challenge: transform its existing facility into an outward expression of the high-caliber institution within. Situated along a busy Dallas corridor, the building lacked a visible identity and offered little to draw students in or signal the vibrant academic life inside. BRW responded with a design rooted in openness and belonging, reimagining the campus as a place that actively welcomes the people it serves.
The design centers on a few powerful moves. A new welcoming entry with a prominent canopy and signage gives the university a clear presence along Interstate 635, turning a previously overlooked facade into a recognizable landmark. An activated green space bridges the gap between the parking lot and the building’s interior, creating opportunities for study, gathering, and informal connection. Inside, natural daylight flows through strategic floor openings and a monumental stair that draws people upward and inward, anchoring the building’s social life.
At its core, the design is about making learning feel accessible. Flexible classrooms, quiet focus rooms, and open collaboration areas give students the range of environments they need to do their best work. BRW’s approach treats the building not as a collection of rooms, but as a community resource — one that reflects Amberton’s commitment to its students and signals that commitment to everyone who passes by.
