DISD Lipscomb Elementary School

Lipscomb Elementary School, a historic campus built in 1920 and located in a City of Dallas Landmark District, has long served as a cornerstone for its neighborhood. BRW Architects approached the renovation and addition with a focus on honoring the school’s legacy while creating a safe, welcoming, and modern environment for students and staff.

The design team worked closely with Dallas ISD and the community to address evolving needs, introducing creative solutions that balance preservation with innovation. A new sunken entry court and secure visitor entry enhance safety and accessibility, while thoughtful classroom relocations and a split-level addition connect learning spaces to the heart of the campus.

BRW Architects’ work at Lipscomb Elementary School reflects a commitment to sustainability, community impact, and the unique character of the school. The transformation supports a vibrant learning environment and strengthens the school’s role as a gathering place for generations to come.
