Decatur Library Renovation

The Decatur Library Renovation reimagined a vital community resource, transforming the existing building into a vibrant, flexible hub for Decatur. BRW approached the project as an opportunity to create a space that welcomes all, focusing on creative solutions within the original footprint. Underutilized areas became inviting destinations, including a refreshed multipurpose room, a new conference space, and a dynamic Maker Space designed to support a range of programs and activities.

Every square foot was optimized to encourage collaboration, learning, and creativity. Flexible furniture allows visitors to shape the environment to their needs, making the library adaptable for both quiet study and lively group gatherings. The result is a modern, inclusive space that reflects Decatur’s evolving needs.

Today, Decatur Library stands as a testament to community-driven transformation—embraced by staff and visitors, and serving as a welcoming hub for connection and inspiration.
