Houston Community College San Jacinto Memorial Building

The 3-story Houston Community College San Jacinto Memorial Building is approximately 180,000 SF and was originally built in 1914 with major additions in the 1920’s and 1930’s.  It has been renovated several times in the last 100 years.  The scope of the project was to completely renovate and redevelop the building into an administrative and academic classroom building. BRW restored the exterior of the building back to its original design. The finished building interior design shall highlight the past history, yet create state-of-the-art spaces for the College’s future academic and education environment.

A new building addition near the gymnasium houses locker rooms, showers, and restrooms for the facility. Within the existing square footage, a new state-of-the-art Cardio / Wellness Center was added for student recreational activities. The existing gymnasium maintained its original appearance and character while being updated with new equipment, finishes, lighting, and mechanical systems.
